Hello #mysni Family! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend after watching the royal wedding. It is finally beginning to feel like summer with the warm weather and the longer days. While there is a lot to love about summer, Team SNI wants to ensure that your hair is damage free from the sun so that you can have long, healthy locks all year round. Today we are going to answer how to keep your hair healthy this summer. Read on below for 9 things you should do to keep your hair strong, healthy and damage free.
Although it may be tempting to wash your hair everyday due to sweat buildup, we suggest that you wash 3 times a week. This will ensure your scalp gets the natural oils it needs. You will notice this to be a lot more beneficial to your hair because the oils from your scalp will help stop the dryness and aide with creating natural moisture, increasing shine, and allowing your hair to be a lot healthier.
Get Those Tangles out
After a shower, Team SNI suggests to take out those tangles by brushing or combing your hair right away. Once your hair is dry, it will be alot harder to get rid of those tangles and the harsh pulling and tugging will cause you to lose more hair. So remember, be sure to have your brush or comb handy the next time you shower, so you can get right to work.
Tip: Use 1 pump of the SNI hair oil to smooth your hair and to help with those tough tangles! Be sure to comb bottom upward with a wide tooth comb or a wet brush.
Brush your Hair Throughout the Day
Brushing your hair throughout the day is a great tip to take on board if you are trying to grow out your hair. Many people are afraid to brush their hair due to the myth that it causes hair loss. Hair loss due to brushing is most likely caused by breakage of weak hair, and not the actual brushing itself. If you choose not to brush your hair multiple times a day, this does make things worse because tangles can cause even more breakage. If you brush your hair 5-6 times per day, you will be removing the knots and tangles, allowing your hair to fall a lot less.
Get a Trim
Are your ends dry due to split ends? We recommend getting a little trim every 6 weeks to ensure that all the damaged ends are gone. If you wait longer, then you may see more visible damage and will have to get a more drastic cut. If you trim less than half an inch every 6 weeks, you can prevent damage, split ends, and hair fall. Ultimately, a little trim is good for you when trying to grow out your hair this summer, so don’t be afraid of those scissors!
Ditch the Hot Tools, Straighteners and Curlers
With the warm summer sun, your hair will already be exposed to heat and harsh UV rays. This is why we suggest to ditch the hot tools whenever you can so that you you are not frying your ends. This will prevent split ends and will help your hair growth goals.
Tip: The SNI hair oil has UV protecting properties and a little can be used to protect your hair from the sun.
Protect Your Hair from Chlorine Damage
Chlorine causes dry ends and can be very detrimental to your hair. Team SNI suggests that you can protect your hair from chlorine damage by using a hair cap when going swimming.
Tip: Use the SNI hair oil after swimming as a deep conditioning treatment for your hair.
Use the Protein Boost Mask
Team SNI recommends to use our famous DIY Protein Boost Mask to promote hair growth. One of the main causes for hair loss is lack of protein, so follow the steps below to see how you can create your own DIY Protein Boost Mask in addition to the SNI Hair Oil.
Stimulate Blood Circulation In your Scalp
Massage your scalp every day to stimulate blood circulation. You can do this yourself or have someone massage your head for you. To do this, use your hands and rub in circular motions. Start at the side above your ears, moving to the front if your head, and then the back. Try to relax and feel your scalp loosen as you massage. You will get better at giving yourself massages over time and this will have a positive effects on reducing stress, and will increase blood circulation.
Oil Your Roots & Your Ends
Finally, the last thing we recommend is to oil your roots and your ends with SNI Natural Hair Oil. The ingredients in our oil will help strengthen you hair which will in turn keep you hair healthy and stong, summer long!
